Supporting education and innovation.
Oral healthcare starts at home
Providing the appropriate tools and materials for preventative care is one of the core tenets of the ZOS mission. What’s better than a mobile clinic? Not not needing a clinic at all.
Equal opportunities for girls
On one of our first trips, we saw a sign that read “Don’t exchange girls for cows, give them education”. It shocked us that this sentiment even needed to be said. ZOS supports systemic change by advocating for equal rights in the schools and clinics we serve.

Annual Report
Dedicated to change.
Oral health is an important aspect of overall health that is often overlooked, particularly in developing countries like Kenya. However, developing oral health is crucial in Kenya because it is estimated that over 90% of the population suffers from dental decay, gum disease, or other oral health issues. Poor oral health can lead to serious health problems, including heart disease, diabetes, and even cancer. Additionally, poor oral health can impact a person's ability to eat, speak, and socialize normally, leading to lower quality of life and decreased productivity.
Developing oral health in Kenya is important for several reasons. Firstly, good oral health can prevent tooth decay and gum disease, which can lead to painful and expensive dental procedures. Secondly, it can improve overall health outcomes, as research has shown that oral health is linked to a variety of chronic conditions, including heart disease and diabetes. Finally, promoting good oral health can improve the quality of life for individuals and communities by reducing pain, improving social interactions, and enhancing overall well-being.
To develop oral health in Kenya, it is necessary to implement a variety of strategies. These strategies can include increasing access to oral health care, promoting education and awareness about good oral hygiene practices, and improving public health policies related to oral health. By investing in oral health, we can improve the health outcomes and quality of life of its citizens, leading to a healthier, more productive society.
